THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN DECIDING WHICH OPTION IS BEST FOR YOU.
RENTING.
1. All our trees for rent are living Norway Spruce trees.
2. Rental trees come in a big pot which contains their roots. Please remember these are living trees - they must be looked after.
3. The trees remain in their pots throughout the year at the farm, so they are sometimes slightly muddy and even sometimes contain a weed or two (although we try to remove these if we spot them!). You may wish to buy a pot cover or put the pot inside a larger decorative pot, but this is not essential. Rental trees must not be removed from their existing pots as this will kill the tree.
4. Rental trees can only be inside for a maximum of 3.5 weeks. Deliveries begin on 30th November 2024 for pre-Christmas returns. For post-Christmas returns, deliveries begin on 9th December 2024.
5. Rental trees must be watered every 1-2 days. If you are going to be away for more than a couple of days, a rental tree will not work for you.
6. Rental trees will be collected and returned to the farm where they will be lowered back into the ground in their pots. They will be looked after for the rest of the year and you can choose to have the same tree back again the following year.
7. Rental trees are sometimes slightly wonky and typically not as symmetrical as cut trees. we think this adds to their charm, but it's not for everyone. They generally have a "good" side and you might want to rotate the tree to find this.
8. Rental trees are measured from the bottom of their pot to the top of the leader branch (the long vertical branch at the top). Because of this, rental trees will always be smaller in height than one of our comparably sized cut trees. Rental trees often have daintier branches than cut trees and are often not as wide. They can be either + or - 6 inches either way from their specified height. Please see diagram below.
BUYING.
1. All our trees for sale are premium non-drop Nordmann Fir trees.
2. Trees for sale are all cut trees. They are cut at the trunk and do not have roots attached. You will need to use a tree stand for your tree. We recommend a water retention stand. These trees cannot be re-planted after Christmas.
3. Trees are available for delivery from 29th November 2024. You can keep the tree for as long as you wish.
4. If you keep your tree in a water retention stand and top it up every few days, your tree should stay fresh until into the new year.
5. All our cut trees are grown in sustainable British forests and for every tree cut at least one tree is planted in its place. Because of this they have a much lower carbon footprint than those grown in Norway, Canada and the U.S.
6. We offer a recycling option for cut trees to ensure they are turned into compost and do not end up in landfill. Even though trees are biodegradable, they will not improve the environment by sitting in a landfill site, waiting to decompose. When trees are recycled they can be made into mulch or fertiliser, which means they can re-contribute to the life cycle of another tree or plant. Please remember trees are only recyclable if they've had all their decorations removed and have not been sprayed with glitter sprays or artificial snow.
7. Our cut trees are available in sizes from 3ft up to 12ft. They are generally on the generous side and fairly symmetrical.
8. Cut trees are measured halfway up the bare trunk to mid-way up the leader branch (the long vertical branch at the top). They can be + or - 6 inches from their specified height. If you tree is too tall you can cut some off the top or bottom so it fits. Our cut trees are nearly always bigger than our comparably sized rental trees. Please see diagram below.
